the work that had to be done in bintan was a lot. quite a lot.

riding up and down the crests of roads over there with a backpack full of camera gear was no joke. but that was on the second day that i reached there. the first day i went coasteering with it!

a thread started by a fellow sportsshooter member about cancer. main article linked to is here.

i can't believe it, the fellow photographer's wife died from cancer before the age of 33.

some local info from the ministry of health
top 10 causes of death
top 10 causes of hospitalization

moneysense also has a large series of pdf files for those who are interested to know more.

this would a movie i'd like to watch - backdancers! just a short clip...

backdancers! trailer
backdancers! new trailer
backdancers! behind the scenes

some japanese movies just have that underdog, never-say-die attitude that i just can't have enough of. waterboys and messengers come to mind right away.

off to watching messengers!

just did one of the rarest things i'd ever do in a long while.

i pulled out, for some odd reason, the vcds for the movie lost and found and watched it through. and for the first time, i actually wrote the synopsis and the spoiler for the movie in wikipedia!

the bad thing was... i realized that i lost all the photos that i took of her with the mavica back in 1996 and 1997. all i could find were the blank html files of the manually coded html files i did then back while in ngee ann polytechnic.

some things of pity though. eriko of speed has married yoinks ago, has a kid now... didn't know that till the entry in wikipedia showed that.

woah! history trip!

*edit*

FOUND THEM!!!

just managed to relocate all my photos from yesteryear... 1996 to be exact!

this article says something about a fan designing software for her... but hey, i was the guy and i DIDN'T do anything that wacko! all i did then was to compile photos via internet and passed 3 diskettes' (what ARE diskettes, anyone?) to her by hand or something. or to jasmine, the local coordinator. ok, so i can't be too sure it is me (i passed her the photos at the hotel she was at, not after a fanclub performance because i was on curfew obviously) but the age, and the timing of the newspaper report and the diskettes (anyone yet?) being passed to her matches what i did then as a typical fan - wait at the hotel lobby for hours on end!

oh my goodness! i was so small and puny sized then in 1996!

check out what a little tweaking can do...

one more here! with boon cheong and xiaofang

the funniest joke about the current haze period is the advice of "staying indoors" for those who are elderly or have breathing problems/ailments.

did someone realize the air we're breathing indoor and outdoors are the SAME? airconditioning only removes the visible soot/haze component, and not more than that.

the people i've been meeting really needs a MASSIVE revamp.

there are some of those who i meet, who take forever to think to cover themselves for a simple hospitalization plan. i don't mind it being friends, acquaintances who take forever to think about it. but my own relatives? that's something new!

what is going on?

friends from nie/pess? my FOOT i have friends from there. just a total lack of people who are even willing to trust me enough to allow me to talk to them.

how come everyone is so busy, as they claimed? don't they have to eat and shit? so busy? how much money are they making anyway?

let these procrastinators get banged half-dead in an accident, then cry over split milk. i've had enough of these low quality people, and i don't want to associate the word, "friend" with them. i'd rather the word, "fiend."

however i would like to bless those who have placed their trust in me.

danny is probably the first secondary schoolmate i can recall offhand to have married, as of last night. dave, ngiap heng, shaowei, alfred, qingyuan, teck meng were there too, as well as kenneth from hallx.

now, this time it does feel somewhat different, a childhood (if i factor in teenage years) buddy getting married. i'm very glad actually that i haven't had anything working out for me along these lines though.
