i must be one of the worst, open critics of this self-claimed, "1st in singapore, 1st in asia" local sports shooting agency. no doubt they have in place a fairly usable marketing strategy, and they will have the volume, but as a participating athlete, i see utter rubbish in the photos they take. and i'm not even talking in my personal capacity as a sports photographer yet.

first of all, let me complain all i want. now, i'm an athlete, and probably have a fair lot of confidence in how i look, the equipment i use et cetera... so there i am, in a cycling photo - minus the wheels of the bike, my lower legs, and my right hand along with the right handlebar of the bike. here's some hotlinks for you guys to see if i'm fair about what i'm saying.

the only photo of me on the bike during the osim tri 2004.
where's my right hand? where's the rest of the bike? my leg?
i took part in this race with race equipment, not toys.

let's ask some more questions, shall we? which self-respecting photo agency that claims superiority would actually have most of their shooters, using a variable aperture lens for good measure? a fixed aperture lens will cost in the region of at least $2000 and above. a variable aperture lens costs more like, about $600. i've only spotted one of their shooters using a classic 80-200 f/2.8 lens before. and no more. the head-honcho of the company is pretty professional in using his kit 75-300 lens on his nikon d70. wow. with his lens hood, i'm sure he captures the moment very well.

not trying to be picky here, but if any of you looked through their "works", you'll find a heck load of utter rubbish. here's some more from the new balance aquathlon back in june...

someone please tell me which photo is worth purchasing. i don't see any.

from my observations of their shooters from the past two events i've taken part in, seeing the work ethic of these shooters, actually make me ashamed to call myself a photographer. they are just snapshooters, who shoot at will recklessly, after planting themselves under shade to minimize their own perspiration. can you believe it? at least four of their photogs at "work", and only two photos of me?

let's forget about composition, exposure out of the picture now. wow. great. missing limbs from the photos. souvenirs? forget it. right now, those who are critical of me can see things in two ways - either i'm bitching a lot about a rival who has better business than i do (yes, i agree i am bitching partially about the money here), or i'm pointing out point blank the problems which they can address in their shooting.

of course, nothing compares with them happily inviting themselves to come down to mr25's ultramarathon last december, and selling the photographs as "official" photographs. wow. even steven gave up telling them otherwise. see how they work?

like good friend, calvin has joked about my shooting style at the start - if i were to be given a top-end camera, i'd probably shoot in sequence so much, and end up shooting everything except my intended subject. it's like firing a machine gun. once in automatic firing mode, the recoil will make you hit everywhere except the actual target. and that's precisely how these folks shoot. and i'm already half joking when i tell my friends, i'm probably the type to shoot a lot, and delete a lot already. but most are keepers. how about this company? go figure...

swim ranked 457th overall, out of 583 valid counts. absolutely absymal performance. i finally learnt how it is like to swim in a simmering... washing machine. there weren't currents, per se, but rather, one meter high waves that blocks vision from where-ever you are, and where-ever you are headed for. and i had no idea which buoys to swim towards... constantly losing direction. urgh. thankful for being able to get out of those irky waters...

bike ranked 145th overall, out of 568. funny stuff here, because my timing is two seconds behind jeanette's, and two seconds faster than victoria's... surprisingly, the hed jets didn't exactly allow me to go fast... was it because they're 650's? or aero wheelsets don't matter at all? gary had it worse, he did one extra 8k loop because he missed the bike dismount point... *horror* on hindsight, i should have adjusted the handlebars lower, so that i can change speed somewhat more aggressively, since i had to upshift and downshift fairly constantly to stay in action. also, i must also remember to secure the speedo sensor properly... my speedo only captured 2.8 km of cycling because it was loose! argh...

run ranked 43th overall, out of 563. not that bad, but i had one wet blister that popped up, and burst on my left big toe, around the medial toe-foot joint. no wonder i had that funny feeling when i was running... ouch. just had to remind myself to keep a high cadence just to finish the race strong.

met alwyn and (how to spell her name?) as i was going back towards marine parade, after bidding mohktar and handbag tata after the race. also met calvin blading away with his trademark grin and oakleys as i was going to seek an alternative crossing back to "mainland".

happened to see kristy as i was heading for the north-south lines, when she was going out of the dhoby ghaut mrt station. and i also met jeric at the train platform. coincidence, or do i know a lot of people? *bleah*

finally met up with eileen over dinner at marche... boy, was she funny or what... chermaine was there too, but surprisingly she said she didn't have a brother at all... so who's the guy who resembles her?

oh yeah. and i met jia min at raffles city on friday evening, as i was on my way back home...

Saturday, August 28, 2004

surprisingly, i don't feel particularly nervous until tomorrow. is this a sign to indicate that i know i have done all that i should have, properly to date? or is this simply, bochup? i doubt so...

will go for a test ride around home area soon, hope to finish sub 2:30.

median times for last year's race:
swim: 32.5 min
bike: 1 hr 31.5 min
run: 1hr 30 min

my estimates for myself would be... 30 min for the swim, 1:14 for the bike, and 45 for the run. that's 2:29, somewhat conservatively speaking.

just discovered my handphone just got suspended, from what i guess as not paying the bills. i had a variety of carriers over the last 24 hours, such as digi 1800, maxis, my celcom, sat-c... everything, anything, but singtel. oops.

met daniel gan, biscuit, peter loh, desmond lee, and sijie, as well as fangio and janice all at the briefing. good opportunity to look for long lost friends too...

happened to meet iskandar, his fiancee, and swee bin at burger king after the briefing. swee bin was waiting for a friend anyway, so since i wasn't in a hurry, we had a long long long chat...

thinking back, i really spent a truckload on the race... and mind you, it's only one race!

race registration 88
bike chain 27
number belt 13
tires (4 of them) 140
cable housing 12

total 280. out of 457 given by saf for national service... and i have yet to start on the countless bottles of 100-plus by the 1.5 liter bottles... oh man... i am in deficit!

yesterday afternoon's olympic men's triathlon, saw a strong show by hamish carter - his face is just like lance's - displays NO emotions at all. the classic poker face. good that new zealand got first and second... but australia was kinda jinxed... in a way. i'd thought robbo might have a chance, but the bike climb must have been the killer...

the evening was spent at the pool revising the total immersion drills with shihan, seems like she has a more obvious problem in balancing in water than i do, despite having a dance background...

rode out with archer to block 85, but too bad, both bak chor mee stalls were closed for the night. met formula91 there too, he must have been there for "secret training"...

another 30+ km cycled... now it's full time rest to the triathlon.

Thursday, August 26, 2004

wensi just gave me a call yesterday afternoon - she was asking for permission to use my photos of her in her school yearbook. ah ok. sounds like mass publication to me... at least it's not just me looking at the photos, i guess. so by all means, why not?

it's probably more pragmatic to clam up, i guess. the one who i'm interested to go out with... isn't reciprocating.

watched the women's olympic triathlon too - what a heartbreak that was, i was thinking that loretta harrop would clinch gold... but only to see unknown (to me, at least) kate allen of austria overtaking her... in the last home stretch! hopefully tomorrow's men's race will be just as exciting...

surprisingly, jodie requested me to help her take photos of her for a personal portfolio - but hopefully the shoot's timing doesn't clash with my rest period for the army half marathon the next morning.

guess this is the most worthy shot of being posted on my own site from last saturday's match.

Tuesday, August 24, 2004

went over to tiong bahru on sunday afternoon to return jadzia her camera, as well as the 17-40 lens that were on long-term loan to me. met na vee and benedict there too at coffee bean. while we were talking, roger lee spotted me...

yesterday morning i gave the morning run a miss - had yet to recover from saturday's race. went over cycling to kallang swimming complex to practice on my strokes, then cycled over to seng chu hin to get my rear derailleur problem fixed. intially i was just waiting for kommissar, just after gerald just checked the bike, but since our friend was still on his way from dinner to the shop... i had more than enough time to look through everything in the store. after kommissar reached the shop, we set off for bak chor mee... but my rear derailleur acted up on me again... so we made a u-turn to seng chu hin to rectify this. this time, winson verified the problem for me, and got it fixed - for good. now the bike feels GREAT again!

met feng xin at block 85 as kommissar and i were having bak chor mee, which was really a surprise. and on top of that... eugene low, my former bmt pc - he'd just grad from ntu comp engineering in may...

finally, today i got to have a closeup view of the oval concepts aerobar at the second level storefront of seng chu hin. on a somewhat related note, slowtwitch posted an article about hed and oval concepts, which makes the hed aerobar the aerobar of my personal choice, although i have to concede that oval's aerobar is of very nice build quality (and probably price, too)... but let me not forget that lance uses a hed aerobar too - so i think i'd stick to getting the hed instead, since steve hed's the original innovator of cycling aerodynamics...

today morning, i went for a "wind run" at turf city with some other runner pals... then we spotted an adult male, with a female hcjc student sitting on the barren carpark, looking into nowhere (the direction of p.i.e.) at 710am. what were they doing there? anyway, the run had the effect of... winding us out... tiring day indeed. anyway, i passed the information about the student over to one of my pals who's teaching there... and really, i'd thought no one in the right frame of mind would go there in the morning, but these two were somewhat suspicious to me... then again, the bunch of us runners weren't in the right frame of mind, because we were there so early, only to run there!

anyway, i fitted the hed jet front wheel onto the bike now, since i'm not going to cycle tomorrow... need a break from the saddle until later this week.

time to zzz now, gotta go for morning run training tomorrow...

Saturday, August 21, 2004

went for a crazy 13k run/race in seletar camp in the morning. flagoff was about 0640, so you can guess what kind of time we had to reach the place. the route was actually quite interestingly covered with mist in the air, and the run was quite ok. only problem with the run was actually with my polar transmitter strap. guess the battery's dying real bad, because throughout the entire race, my heartrate was at 120... on average! now, something is definitely amiss here... surprisingly though, although my speed dropped gradually as the run carried on, i felt surprisingly strong and good for the event. after all, i was only doing a trial run for next week's triathlon.

went back home, then over to meet greg to pick up my camera. i left for city hall, just so to purchase a replacement polar transmitter strap. then it was a trip over to delta swimming complex to shoot canoepolo with glynsen. it was an awfully HOT day, alright!

evening time was a time for the samba kids (or rather, the remainder) to gather and bid farewell to siva before he departs for alberta up to january 2005.

feeling a little awful right now. just realized this, that i have no company of my own, nor can i give anyone company - not that i want to have things this way, of course.

feel like missing church tomorrow, and just go to shoot canoepolo only tomorrow.

Friday, August 20, 2004

wow! carly patterson got herself the olympic gold for women's gymnastics individual all-around! from the excerpt from television, it was just as spectacular as watching paul hamm clawing his way back to olympic gold for men's individual all-around just one day earlier... not withstanding his massive blunder for vault, dropping to 12th position, coming back to 4th, then eventually to gold!

GETTY IMAGES/Clive Brunskill

but nothing beats watching tyler hamilton cranking at a high cadence away to olympic gold for men's individual cycling time trial... fantastic!

go team usa! and team singapore too, go jia wei!

just came back from seng chu hin after buying an ultegra 12-23 cassette, as well as a park tool pfp-3 home mechanic floor pump, for a total of 106 bucks. race day is getting closer, and i'll start to do my analysis of timings etc very soon...

lent my khs to shihan on wednesday night. hopefully she knows basic safety... she was telling me that there was absolutely no need for a red rear blinker when i was installing it on my bike, and assured me that there was no need for a helmet, and that she's destined to live a long life... i sure hope so too. but who are we to decide if we should never be involved in an accident?

Tuesday, August 17, 2004

had an off-day today, because i was so tired in the morning. my best guess is because i didn't recover from sunday's training, as well as the accumulated fatigue of shooting canoepolo over the weekend.

as i was flipping through the papers in the early afternoon, i was reminded that there was the asean schools' gymnastics comp going on... so i hurriedly cycled back to camp to pick up my camera body. got back in just under 40 minutes, took probably 10 more to "transit", and another 40 to get to bishan. scary thing was... my heartrate plummeted to 120 near the end of the first cycling trip, and stayed there for almost the whole day! i suspect that is a case of chronic dehydration...

by the way, rosalind pho is so cute in road feast!

Sunday, August 15, 2004

went for my morning run, and came across an idiot who insisted that he knows what he's doing etc... when he's cycling on ground that he isn't supposed to be on at all on a bicycle! more details here...

carried on with day 2 of the canoepolo nationals, got some usable shots compared to yesterday. in fact, i only shot 158 shots, and probably 20 were shots to check my exposure, and after deleting those really-cannot-make-it ones, i'm now left with only 98 shots. incredible discipline for me, finally on my camera!

yesterday, some things happened, that showed me the omnipotence of the Lord.

in the morning, dad and mom went down with me to wait for a cab at 820am at the road right outside our block, on our way to the investiture to be held at the indoor stadium. we waited in vain till about 845am, when there was a taxi that pulled over... just 10 meters after where we were all waiting. i walked briskly towards it, but there was another chap approaching the vehicle from further down the road than where i was. i decided to let him have the cab, and wait instead. to my horror (???), the man did not leave in the cab, and the cab just pulled... away! you know, the thought of wasting your effort on someone and not being appreciated? i guess this was the biggest of such a case i've ever had. the man didn't say anything even though he knew the cab was not going to bring him anywhere, he didn't call me over or anything... is this called indifference? i don't know.

we carried on waiting, helpless to the fact that only ten meters away, a panacea to the following condition set in a letter from nie:

please report by 9:00am. attendance will be taken only once and you will be marked absent and not allowed to join the ceremony if you are not present in your seat at the time of the roll-call.

that was indeed something pretty sobering. we carried on waiting.

mom was getting frantic, it showed from the way that she was flailing her arm trying to flag every cab that passed her by; only problem was that they all had "busy" flashed on their led tops. mom was always frugal, never one to take a taxi, and being in one was a luxury for her. dad crossed the road, to try his luck at flagging a cab too. there was only at best ten minutes to 9am. it was evident that both dad and mom were getting panicky. thoughts ran across my mind - should i just signal to them both, and just go back home, since i wasn't that keen myself on a ceremony? but it's something for my parents would have greatly appreciated. since it wasn't going to help the situation, i decided to stay on and wait along with my parents.

in the end, there was an empty cab that came along the road. problem? it was already 9am. we all boarded it, and set off on our way to the venue. within the letter, there was another paragraph...

the marshals will take on roll-call of graduands 45 minutes before the ceremony begins. please ensure that you are in your seat at the time of (the) roll-call otherwise you will be marked absent.

as we were just moving off in the taxi, my mind rushed ahead of time. how about the heavy morning congestion along aljunied? kallang? and the indoor stadium area? scenes of the first roll-call commencing came to vivid life in my imagination, as the taxi just turned into upper aljunied road. just minutes later, i asked dad if we should turn around, since it was inevitable that we'd miss the second roll-call as well. he said simply, just to carry on, and see what lies ahead at the venue, before taking an alternative action.

the cab finally pulled over outside the northern entrance to the indoor stadium at 915am, on the dot. when i spotted an official from nie, i immediately asked if i could still take attendance, not knowing if i should turn back or not. she told me something that i never expected - i would have to rush into the hall, and to my seatting block, because it was time for the last call... and i heard repeated announcement of "last call" as i hurriedly dug out that graduation gown as i made my way to the block... for the first time, i finally understood how it feels like to be either there in a flight, or stranded because of missing it, despite never making it through the departure gates at changi. the entire event went along pretty fine, with woody being the valedictorian...

the entire taxi trip, the high level of suspense, not knowing what awaits at the end... the entire trip was probably akin to the Christian life - holding on to the faith, despite the setbacks that come along that seem to show no hope is left... this single episode, all within an hour, was one of the most unforgettable events in my life, ever.

in the afternoon after the investiture event, i paid alwyn a visit at his home to help eradicate some trojans in his computer... after which i left to seng chu hin to get siva's bike all tuned up... little did i expect to see winson, who is one of the more experienced biketrials riders locally. he did an amazing job on the bike, suggested against changing the brake cables, and the front derailleur cable because they were perfectly functional, though they could do with a little tuning. similarly, the brakepads just found their ticket to staying on the bike a bit longer... actually, i'd rather trust biketrial people to service my bike better than regular mechs, because of the more technical requirements of their riding... it's bound to rub off in their standard of work.

today morning i set off from home cycling, and shaved off four and a half minutes cycling to camp... what an improvement over the 40 minutes that i usually clock!

went off to shoot canoepolo at delta swimming complex in the afternoon, seems like it's high time to sharpen my skills after laying off shooting sports for only three months...

something from juju...

    About girls...

    1. When a girl says she's sad, but she isn't crying, it means she's crying in her heart.
    2. When she ignores you after you've done something wrong, it's best to give her some time to cool down before touching her heart with an apology.
    3. A girl can't find anything to hate about the guy she loves (which is why it is so hard for her to 'get over him' after the relationship's over.)
    4. If a girl loves a guy, he will always be on her mind every minute of the day, even though she flirts with other guys.
    5. When the guy she likes smiles and stares deep into her eyes, she will melt.
    6. A girl likes to hear compliments, but usually is not sure how to react to them.
    7. When a particular guy flirts with a girl very often, a girl would start thinking the guy likes her. So if you treat a girl just as a friend, go easy on the smiles and stare 'okie?
    8. If you don't like a girl who likes you, break it to her gently.
    9. If a girl starts avoiding you after you reject her, leave her alone for a while. If you still treat her as a friend, talk to her.
    10. Girls enjoy talking about what they feel. Music, poetry, drawings and writing are ways of expressing themselves (which explains why most girls like writing journals).
    11. Never tell a girl that she is useless in any way.
    12. Being too serious can turn a girl off.
    13. When the guy she likes calls her for the first time, the girl may act uninterested during the call. But as soon as the phone is back on the hook, she will whoop with joy and immediately start telephoning her friends to spread the news.
    14. A smile means a lot to a girl.
    15. If you like a girl, try making friends with her first. Let her get to know you.
    16. If a girl says she can't go out with you because she has to study, leave.
    17. But if she still calls you or expect a call from you, stay.
    18. Don't try to guess a girl's feelings. Ask her.
    19. Hearing the words "I love you" is a great reassurance to a girl that she is beautiful.
    20. After a girl falls in love with a guy, she'll wonder why she never noticed him before.
    21. If you need tips on how to flirt with a girl, read romance stories.
    22. When class pictures come out, a girl would first look at the girl next to her crush before actually looking at herself.
    23. A girl's ex-crush will always be in her memory, but the guy she loves now stays in her heart.
    24. Girls love having fun!
    25. A simple 'Hi' can brighten a girl's day.
    26. A girl's best friends usually know best what she is feeling and going through
    27. Girls hate it when a guy pays attention to them just to get close to their 'prettier' friend.
    28. Love means devotion, caring and happiness to a girl, in that order.
    29. Some girls care about looks, some care about brains, but ALL girls want a guy who will love and care for them.
    30. Girls want nothing more than to feel loved.

    That's all.

i'd say, most are very true... but are all true? girls, give your opinions...

the perseid meteor shower viewing trip was in nought. red casted sky for so much of the time from 1am till 3am. argh.

on leave tomorrow for the teachers' investiture ceremony. one more day of rest, otherwise... or what i should call, swim practice day?

will propose wednesdays off for training to "boss" later today, because i've gotta get those strokes worked out before august 29th... d-day!

Wednesday, August 11, 2004

jeanette's such a good teacher!

we ran through the ti drills (roughly in sequence, i gotta check the order etc from her again):

face down, lazy kick
face up, lazy kick
sides, lazy kick
sides, lazy kick with leading arm
left-right rotation switch with "sneaky" leading arm
one more, with rotation being underwater

main things she caught for me:

cutting down the "crossover" arms across centerline
cutting the bobbing head
using hands to pull/push for propulsion

words can't really describe all the drills... but it sure did feel very different trying to swim now!

this not being the first time i got to know her, but this is actually the first time we uh... actually spoke to each other in over five years! funny thing was that she was telling me to breathe after each completed drill... guess that either i was stressing her out, or i looked really out of breath after each drill... it was so nice of her to follow me through as i used the breadth of the pool, both to check my drill execution, as well as look out for the "school team swimmers" who were trashing the water and approaching us...

frankly, if i were to be asked which was my best swimming class in my life, this session would come in tops.

Tuesday, August 10, 2004

sunday morning was kicked off with a 17k run back in macritchie, then it was back home, and after a quick washup and some deliberation... i decided to carry my camera gear over to sentosa to shoot for my friends at the nus triathlon.

the race management at the transition was pretty shoddy, i must admit. there was a big patch of sand right where the bike-to-run transition was meant to be made! i heard at least one chap skidding in the sand - but i couldn't bear to watch the visual outcome... yelch...

i was unnervingly at ease when i met up with lee li after such a long break. after all, whatever happened then... happened then. met plenty of familiar faces - those i know, and those i don't.

shooting the the actual national day parade was unrealistically... a familiar feeling. why? when you've shot every single weekend, with no crowds (aka rehearsals) or with crowds (ne show, preview), you'll get used to it easily. thankfully... the sequence of everything, i got to remember them on cue... finally! caught some fireworks, but the resulting photos have much to be demanded out from them... it's somewhat unbelieveable - one year ago, i was hoping that i had a chance to shoot ndp officially, and now? i am one of the official photographers. what a difference one year makes.

new friend, weibin and me
note: for sotongs like huiting, i better say i'm the one on the left...

today i'm on off, resting at home, since i didn't really feel like waking up to cycle to camp... and back... looking forward to the swim "class" that jeanette is helping me with...

Saturday, August 07, 2004

had the opportunity to shoot this after some assignment that spanned the whole day.

had a good time outfield, didn't get mossies kissing me... met some old oeti coursemates too!

Friday, August 06, 2004

last night kommissar gave me a ring while i was about to leave office, after one whole day of despatching ndp funpacks to various sponsors. i promptly agreed to meet up, since it was going to be dinner at raimah's... hmmm, i can already smell black pepper chicken chop!

feeling generous, he gave me a treat. we had a good time chatting away, and only then i learnt about the accident he had because he was too weary once while cycling. luckily for him and his bike, both didn't seem to suffer that much in an accident. phew.

safety first!

but regarding the despatching? i was the vehicle commander, and i had a very pleasant driver who was grateful for me helping to sequence the drops in order, and giving him guidance along the route. i'm also glad that he was able to keep up a hearty conversation throughout, to prevent both of us from dying from boredom...

and yes, today's streats features pling, merciless, janice, winnie who i'm familiar with, and a rina with whom i'm not... regarding mountain biking...

"through nature's inflexible grace, i'm learning to live" - dream theater

i gave it a good thought this morning as i bore my weary mind and body out of home, things seemed just so unreal. perhaps it's a sign that i shouldn't proactively go for any girl, perhaps it's just a sign to show that this is not yet the time for me to get hitched (at all).

like what i told kannan this morning as we were on the bus coming to camp - i'm right now on strike two, one more strike and i'm out for good.

why was i kept in the dark when we were already talking on the phone for over one week? was there any need for secrecy, or unnecessary suspense, if one has already been attached? i sure dont't see the reason why to do so for either. was i the substitute for her boyfriend when he's in camp? man, i sure don't like that feeling. was it a coincidence that she used the word "substitute" on me? i think there's a fair chance of that of the case. i don't mind the knowledge that she's attached, but the fact that she's already a proper working adult (can i use this word? i feel that word is too early for her) and yet she has to do so much to keep me in suspense, only to gravely disappoint me in the end - not just with her status, but with her intention to cover up, not coming clean early.... as well as with myself for committing the same old silly mistakes i committed all along the years. four half years single, yeah, it isn't so bad after all. strike three, then i'm out of this game. "my batteries need recharging..."

anyway i fitted on the tubulars on the wheels last night, and left them on the wheels to stretch out... i'm thinking of setting aside some money to buy another ultegra cassette and then fitting it onto the wheels, so that i have two directly available wheelsets that i can use for the moment as i deem fit. right now, i'm nearly there, if not for the fact that i only need one more cassette, and glue down the tubulars. perhaps i may even race this weekend for the saca race, who knows?

met han meng and leonard while having dinner at don't-know-what-square, good to bump into old chums along the way. collected my graduation gown yesterday, and quite a relief it was to pick up that transcript and the official diploma from nie that was one year late in the making. talked to alan ch'ng, and expressed my relief that the course was finally now all over.

where is the love?

i know that next year when i officially begin my teaching career, i'll need to "charge my batteries" and give my boys the most that i can, and more than what i can give. even though i may be tired, but i'll have to surpass the superhuman effort and will to make things happen. actually, i must remind myself of the trust others have of me, in the fact that i can be a teacher with a difference, in my own way. oh yeah, met roger lee at the nie canteen yesterday. the old xinghua students of mine, will be so glad to know he's still around...

good to have silly old pals, who are goofy when you need them to be, and offer reassuring support when you ned them to be there. many thanks mavic and wendy...

Wednesday, August 04, 2004

i've been played, again.

thought that after the cynthia saga (short saga though), i thought that nothing bad of a similar sort could happen again, but i was wrong. veron denied me the knowledge that she was already attached, and despite knowing that i was interested in her, she did not divulge that fact to me. truth is? her boyfriend is a stay-in personnel serving nsf right now. is it not doing a disservice to the boyfriend by trying to befriend another guy on close terms? i sure think it is.

how can i open up again?

i don't know. after two repeated strikes by lighting at the same place, it's a sign for me to move on with life singly.

tsk tsk, keep your grubby meathooks off my site.

this is funny...

fengshui motherboards, anyone?

cycled out to yishun this morning to pass kannan the photos from cobras' night... so much more relieved now...

went out for a memorable ride with kit leong earlier tonight, i guess it was good training for me for the upcoming osim triathlon... good thing was that he let me draft behind him for quite a distance before breaking me off and leaving in his chaindust...

good ride!

for sunday, i was rotting away at home, almost. had completely, nothing to do at all. missed my should-have-been long run in the morning, couldn't be bothered about running in the evening time trial.

yesterday, for a good lot of the day, i felt "shivery", if there's such a word as that. feeling cold for most part of the day.

on my way back home, i saw bryan, wait, it was rather he who spotted me from his car... i don't know who the lady passenger was beside him, but from wearing a mizuno golf glove on his left hand, and that wide cheery smile/grin on his face... it seems that cancer does indeed make lives change.

it's a conscious decision - to go for the better, or go for the worse.
